Jan 30, 2018 City Of Englewood – Robbery – Armed

(Press release from Englewood Police Department)

On Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at approximately 5:45 PM, a lone male committed an armed robbery at one of our 7-11’s in Englewood. The attached video shows the hooded suspect calmly walking along the east side of Bennett Road towards the small strip mall at the Monument where the convenience store is located. He crosses West Palisade Avenue, circles around and then a few minutes later bursts through the front door armed with what appears to be a handgun. The suspect jumped the counter, grabbed one of the clerks and forced him to open the cash register. No one was hurt during the robbery. After getting several hundred dollars, the suspect, who was wearing a distinctive scarf or other clothing item that covered the lower part of his face, then ran from the store in the same direction he originally came from. Our Officers arrived within moments and searched the area with negative results. City Detectives responded, called in the County Crime Scene Unit and evidence was recovered at the scene which is currently being analyzed.

The Bergenfield-Englewood-Teaneck-Hackensack Crimestoppers group is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that significantly assists in this investigation. We’re asking our Community to view the video carefully and call in a tip if you think you recognize something familiar. Sometimes it’s the way someone walks or runs, the clothing they were wearing, anything at all that can help us apprehend this suspect.
