02-08-2019 Englewood – Theft Liquor Store – Video Footage For Identification Of Suspect

On February 8, 2019, at approximately 9:07 PM, a theft from a cash register occurred at the Oprandy’s Wine & Liquor Store, located at 481 North Dean Street in Englewood. The thief got away with an amount of currency, which we are not disclosing at this time.

The suspect entered the liquor store dressed in dark clothing and some type of reflective vest. He was carrying a large piece of plastic used to cover his face and went directly behind the counter. As he was removing cash, the two owners, who were several feet away, noticed what was occurring and scared the suspect out of the store. During his escape, the suspect dropped some of the proceeds and fled from the area in a southwesterly direction. The victims called our communications center and officers responded. During a search of the area, some of his clothing, along with the plastic, was recovered a short distance from the store.

The incident was captured on the store’ s security surveillance system. The suspect appears to have a distinctive walk as he first enters the store, so we are hoping that with the release of the video, someone may recognize him.

We are asking for the public’s help, through our CrimeStoppers group, for further information.
