ENGLEWOOD POLICE INVESTIGATE AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – INFORMATION SOUGHT FROM PUBLIC
Occurred March 17, 2019, between 1 am – 2 am on West Forest Ave Englewood near Teaneck
On 3/17/2019 officers were dispatched to Holy Name Hospital on a reported belated assault. Once at the hospital officers were able to determine, through conversation with the male victim, that he was assaulted by a lone assailant as he walked east on West Forest Avenue towards Teaneck. The victim, who is a resident of Teaneck, stated that an unknown black male approached him between 1:00 and 2:00 A.M and without word or warning struck him twice in the face, with what he described as a folding knife. The perpetrator then reportedly fled east in the direction of Teaneck. The motive is unknown at this time.
The victim reached out to a friend, who subsequently drove him to Holy Name Hospital to be medically attended to. The victim’s sustained a laceration to his chin and his lip and required stitches. The victim further described his attacker as being under six feet tall and wearing all black (shirt and pants) but stated to interviewing officers that he did not wish to get anyone in trouble. No further information was provided by the victim.
This matter is being actively investigated.
